Hand-forged replica of a Scandinavian Viking sword from the 11th century. Handmade using the same techniques that the Vikings used 1000 years ago. The steel forging is of high quality, hardened with oil and tempered in the traditional way over a coal forge. Additionally, the blade is marked with Nordlys™ “smith's mark” so you can be sure that you have a genuine sword from our own forge.
The handle is wrapped in brown leather, which goes well with the brown braided leather straps that adorn the black leather ski. The period-typical five-part button along with the patterned scabbard of bronze makes it immediately recognizable as a genuine Viking sword.
The scabbard is also handmade as a replica with an interior of wood and leather stretched on the outside. Viking swords were traditionally carried with two belts, one over the opposite shoulder and one around the waist. The two belts relieved and distributed the weight of the sword and ran through a loop on the ski called a belt bridge, which on this scabbard, just like on most originals, is made of wood.
