Black burned Cup

This cup is inspired by a small cup found in the famous Viking city of Birka, with the same rounded shape and an ear to hold onto. The cup is handmade from clay and black burned in a pit killn, the way the vikings did their ceramics. The method results in a black, shiny mottled surface, reminding of graphite. The Vikings in Scandinavia started using this technique for burning ceramics and pieces made this way has been found in many Viking settlements.
