Viking bone dice, small
Offer
Viking Age bone dice. The dice are handmade in ox bone.
The die is symmetrical and based on findings from York in England. The original is dated to the 9th century. The opposite sides of the dice do not form the sum 7 as on modern dice.
The Vikings played many different games. Of them, many seem to have been with dice, at least if you go by the amount of dice you find during excavations. In York, a variety of different types of dice have been found, all of which differ in shape and execution. Many of them have not been symmetrical and it does not seem to have been so important to the Vikings. Maybe it's because people believed in fate and therefore had a different attitude to the concept of luck than they have today.
