The ash tree Yggdrasil is a powerful symbol of life and the universe within Norse mythology. Available in two versions, one gold-coloured and one silver-coloured.

The tree of life, Arbor vitae (Latin), appears in several cultures under different names. In Old Norse mythology it is referred to as Yggdrasil and is the centre point of the Vikings' worldview; its branches bound together the different worlds and creation as a whole.

The earrings are handmade in nickel-free brass and are also available in a silver-plated version.

Silver-plated means that the surface of the jewellery has been coated with a thin layer of silver.
All Nordlys jewellery is nickel and cadmium-free.
Brass today is a mixture of copper and zinc.
During the Viking Age, copper was mixed with tin in various proportions to achieve the same gold-like color that brass has.

Care

Silver and brass oxidize over time. You can easily polish the earrings with silver and brass polish.
This can be purchased in most grocery stores.
