Felted pink and white colored horse made of wool. All our felted animals are free from plastic materials and dyed with water-based non-toxic color. The felting is done entirely without harmful chemicals. Only hot water and soap are added. The stuffing is also 100% wool.

The model is inspired by finds from the Viking Age of felted horses.

Nordlys takes responsibility all the way. Our dolls are felted in collaboration with ethical companies and social projects in Nepal. Through craftsmanship, we support the independent economy of women from Nepal's most vulnerable groups.

Not suitable for children under 3 years as parts may detach and pose a choking hazard.

Measurements & Materials

Felted horse in 100% wool. Colored with water-based dye. approx. 15 cm high.

Care

Wash by hand with wool detergent.

Details

All our felting is done by hand according to ancient traditions among the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas.
Felting is probably one of our crafts that, even in its modern form, only requires wool, warm water, regular soap, and a little love.
Among the mountain peaks on the outskirts of Kathmandu stands a house full of women from some of Nepal's most vulnerable groups. Women among Nepal's poor are particularly vulnerable and often struggle to find jobs that also allow them to fulfill what is considered a woman's duties.
But in this house, there are plenty of happy faces, and felting and sewing is done by skilled hands.
Much of the sewing and decorations is also done at home by women who cannot go to work. This is internationally known as "Cottage craft". It gives the women the freedom to work when time allows, providing a much-needed financial contribution to the family. The work gives these women greater influence and a higher standing in society.
The products we make with them spread love, joy, and warmth far beyond Nepal's borders.
Wool is a fantastic material that today is once again the perfect choice for those who want to stay warm and eco-friendly.
