Gotland pendant with black Lava stone. Available in two variants, a gold-coloured and a silver-coloured one. A beloved child has many names. In its original form, this jewellery is over 1000 years old. It is called a Gotland pendant, Freyja sphere, Gotland sphere or Fröjel sphere after one of the find sites, Fröjel on Gotland. 

Our Fröjel spheres are just as popular now as they were 1000 years ago. The inspiration for this jewellery is drawn from a number of different originals from Viking-age Gotland. The original edition is in silver with mountain crystal and has been found in several sizes. Our version is hand-crafted in brass and is also available in a silver-plated edition. All the stones are genuine semi-precious stones. The jewellery is naturally nickel-free.

Measurements & Materials

Material: Brass and volcanic lava stone.
Size: Height 30mm, width 20mm
Silver plating means that the brass is silver-coated with a layer of silver on the surface.
All Nordlys jewellery is nickel and cadmium-free. Brass is today a mixture of copper and zinc.
During the Viking Age, copper was mixed with tin in different proportions to achieve the same gold-like color that brass has.

Care

Silver and brass oxidise over time.
You can easily polish the jewellery with brass or silver polish.
This can be bought in most grocery stores.
