This Swedish Viking sword was found in Dalarna, Sollerön parish. It is just over 30 km south of Mora. The sword is dated to 800-1100 AD.

The sword was found in a burial mound that was 13.5 m wide, with cremation remains and 2 spearheads, 13 arrowheads, an axe and shield, as well as a comb, comb case, and a belt buckle in the style of those found in Russia and Ukraine. Along with the warrior, there were also two secondary graves, one of which is interpreted as a sacrifice and the other as a later interment in the same burial mound. A woman was cremated and buried with oval brooches, a bronze ring brooch, and 3 bracelets.

The sword is Petersen's type Z.

As the sword is not blunted (does not have a rounded edge), it is not recommended for combat, but intended for collectors, for decorative or ceremonial purposes.

Care

It is particularly important to remove all fingerprints and handprints. In order to generally keep the sword nice and shiny, once or twice a year, you can lubricate the sword with so-called gun grease. You can find it in hunting shops or, for example, at Biltema.
