Mouth harp hand forged
Our large mouth harp is hand-forged in iron, the model is very typical of the Viking Age and early Middle Ages. The size is slightly larger than the most commonly found examples. This provides a more easily played mouth harp and a darker tone with longer vibration. The mouth harp is one of the world's oldest instruments and has spread across almost the entire world in various forms. The mouth harp came from Asia to Europe during the Iron Age/early Middle Ages. In Gotland, a bronze mouth harp from the Iron Age has been found, among other things.
Our mouth harps are hand-forged by members of the Nepali musician caste. They have sustained themselves for thousands of years by playing traditional music. Their traditions also include making their instruments.
In modern society, interest in traditional music performed live is steadily declining.
Musicians are therefore today a vulnerable population group in an already poor country. Every mouth harp sold supports their work to continue living in accordance with their traditions.
