On these dainty little silver-plated earrings we see the tree of life. The branches reach downwards to be bound together with the roots in the eternal cycle. The earrings are handmade in silver-plated brass and have a polished silver colour.

The tree of life, Arbor vitae (Latin), appears in several cultures and goes by different names. In Norse mythology it is known as Yggdrasil and is the centrepoint of the Vikings' worldview; its branches bound together the different worlds and all of creation.

Silver-plated means that the surface of the jewelery has been silver coated with a thin layer of silver.
All Nordly's jewelery is nickel and cadmium free.
Today, brass is a mixture of copper and zinc. During the Viking Age, copper was mixed with tin in different proportions to get the same gold-like color that brass has.

Care

Silver oxidizes over time, you can easily polish the earrings with silver polish. This can be bought at most grocery stores.
