A clean and pagan presentation of the warrior axe from Mammen, made in a pewter alloy. During the Viking Age, the axe was the symbol of the warrior. Either through a piece of jewelry like this or in the form of an ornamental miniature axe on the belt. We have framed the piece with a thickly wrapped leather cord and a thread of natural fibre. It is one of our most popular necklaces, available in both pewter and bronze finish. The necklace is part of our design series of complete pagan neck jewelry, where we have combined various historical pendants with leather, bone and horn to create a piece of Viking jewelry that suits everyone, then as now. Since organic material such as leather, wood and horn is not preserved in the ground over time, we do not know much about what the Vikings' jewelry looked like. What is found is the metal, stone and glass that has been preserved. With these necklaces, we have therefore created a vision of how such jewelry may have been assembled and worn.

Measurements & Materials

For pendants and other metal details we have used a cast alloy that is completely free of nickel, lead and cadmium. The metal has either a bronze or pewter finish. Necklace length/circumference 48cm.

Care

If you shower or bathe with the jewelry, make sure that it is not wet for too long, but is allowed to dry properly again. We use vegetable-tanned leather in our jewelry, and it can therefore be damaged if it is left damp and hot for a long time.
