All our glass beads are handmade in the traditional way.
Patterns and colors are not painted on, but are created from molten glass wound around a plaster-dipped steel rod.
Already during the Viking Age, we Norsemen fell in love with the beautiful expression of glass beads, and it is a love we share with the rest of the world. The process we use today is almost identical to the one the Vikings used. Even though we in Scandinavia had not figured out how to manufacture glass.
Thousands of intricate and usually locally made glass beads are found everywhere you look where the Vikings traveled.
The glass and some finished beads were imported from the East. Today, the production of the beads takes place in northern India, in a small village not far from the banks of the Ganges. There, the knowledge of making glass beads is a matter of great pride, and the bead masters dream that their secrets can be passed down to the next generation. And as awareness grows among people and customers around the world who demand jewellery in durable and handmade designs, it may no longer be just a dream.

Glass is a durable material that requires no special maintenance. Handle with care to avoid scratches and cracks.
