The symbolism is ancient and has several meanings. The Triskele symbol is also known as Odin's horn, where it represents three drinking horns. Behind this symbol lies a story. Odin came to the giantess Gunnlöð to drink the mead of poetry (skáldskaparmjöðr). He negotiated for three nights to get three sips of the mead. The number three has had important symbolism for the Vikings and is associated with several magical powers.
