Cow horn is a fantastic material that until about 100 years ago was widely used for many things.
When plastic arrived, it replaced horn in many everyday items that had traditionally been made by hand. People used to make spoons,
combs, eyeglass frames and shoe horns out of horn, among other things.
Our horn products are made in Uttar Pradesh in India, where the cow is considered sacred and no part may go to waste at slaughter. The horns are cleaned, sorted, boiled and polished before they are shaped. Horn is very strong and fully compostable, a sustainable material, both for you and the environment.

Goods in horn are washed by hand with water and detergent. They should not be washed in a dishwasher and cannot be microwaved either. Horn is a natural material that has many properties in common with wood. It can therefore dry out over time. Feel free to treat with wood oil if necessary or once or twice a year for preventive purposes. For glass and other items that will come into contact with food, we recommend that you use a wood oil that is intended for kitchen utensils or the like.

Keep in mind that horn is a natural material and that all horns are unique in shape and color. You can also specify a preferred color, and we will try to match it with what we have in stock. All our drinking horns are lacquered on the inside with food-grade lacquer. Hand wash only.
