Yellow glass bead, Gotland
A small yellow composite pearl, found during excavations in Hellvi on Gotland in Sweden. The pearl was found along with other glass and carnelian (stone) pearls. The original is from the Viking era. Gotland is one of the "richest" places in the world. The glass bead is a historical reproduction and handmade using the same technique, of melting glass rods on a metal stick, that the Vikings used.
