The process we use today is almost identical to the one the Vikings used. Even though we in Scandinavia hadn't figured out how to make glass. This is how you find thousands of intricate and mostly locally made glass beads, wherever you look where the Vikings have traveled.</p><p>The glass and some finished beads were imported from the East. Today, the production of the pearls takes place in northern India, in a small village not far from the shores of Gagne. There, the knowledge of making glass beads is something that people are very proud of and where the bead masters dream that their secrets can be passed down to the next generation. And as awareness increases among people and customers around the world who demand jewelry in durable and handmade designs, it may no longer be just a dream.</p>
